2人は5年前、コナーが自身のYouTubeチャンネルでアランのヒット曲「Faded」のカヴァー動画を公開したことで知り合い、この曲の制作を始めた。この曲についてウォーカーは、「Believersは、コロナ震災で隔離されている間に書き始めた曲だ。人々を幸せにし、少しの間逃避できるような曲を書きたかった。誰にヴォーカルをやってほしいか考え始めたとき、コナーが真っ先に頭に浮かんだので、完成した曲にはとても満足している。
この曲についてコナーは、「5年前に『Faded』のカバービデオを発表したとき、アラン本人とオリジナル曲を作る日が来るとは思ってもみなかった。Believersのトラックを受け取ったとき、レコーディングするのが待ちきれなかったし、今はみんなに聴いてもらうのが待ちきれないよ！」と語っている。
