== 背景 ==
アランがこの曲を初めて披露したのは2016年のX-Gamesノルウェー大会で、それ以来、この曲に関する新しい情報は何もなかったが、2020年にアランは 「Heading Home」をリリースした。

この曲についてウォーカーは、「2015年に[[Faded]]をリリースした直後、Heading Homeというデモ・プロジェクトを始めたんだ。一度ライブで披露したんだけど、それ以来、何度か編集作業をしていて、実際にリリースすることはなかったんだ。そのライブパフォーマンスだけで、あっという間にウォーカーの間で人気の曲になった。リリースしてほしいというリクエストがずっとあったので、ようやくリリースできてうれしいです。また、何年もリクエストしてくれていたウォーカーたちへのちょっとしたご褒美として、オリジナルのデモをリリースすることにした」 と彼は語った。

We Rave Youのハリソン・ワトソンは、「このトラックは美しいギターのメロディで始まり、すぐにルーベンの素朴なヴォーカルが続く。ウォーカーはリズミカルなパーカッション・セクションを導入し、ブレイクダウンへと導く」と述べてい。

この曲のミュージック・ビデオはカンボジアで撮影され、[[World of Walker]]のグローバル・コンテンツの原動力の一人であるクリスチャン・バーグが監督を務めた。「Faded」以降に発表されたミュージックビデオの視聴覚的世界を通して物語が語られる。「Heading Home」のビデオは、「[[On My Way]]」と「[[Alone, Pt. II|Alone, Pt.II]]」に収録されており、3部作の最終エピソードである。

この曲のミュージック・ビデオは、ベルリン・ミュージック・ビデオ・アワードの2021年シルバー・スクリーニングの選考リストに入っている。
